Although Americans have made them a flagship of their bakery, donuts have Dutch origins; it was later immigrants who exported these famous donuts to America.
A doughnut or donut is a sweet pancake popular in many countries and prepared in various forms as a sweet snack that can be made at home or purchased at bakeries, supermarkets, food stalls, and chain specialty stores. It has a dense texture and forms a deep cavity when cooked due to its high density.

It is often filled with jelly, custard, cream, or chocolate frosting which oozes out of the sides when bitten into. It is typically eaten as a breakfast food; however, doughnuts may also be eaten at other times of the day.

Donuts are one of the sweets I loved most as a young girl. They were my favorite snack during afternoons downtown with girlfriends. The famous "American donuts" are fluffy and mouthwatering and manage to have a unique and unmistakable texture and flavor. Sinking your teeth into the rough, sweet outside that covers the soft, doughy inside has other benefits too: according to the American Heart Association, donuts actually have zero cholesterol and have no trans fat.

They became famous a little bit also thanks to the events of The Simpsons. Homer Simpson has made them famous, though they had already existed before this time. Cute and yummy donuts fried and then dipped in the most sinful glazes, decorated with colorful sprinkles and glazes!
